I use Memorex which I got from Wal-mart for 75 dollars. The mp3/fm raido tuner strapes on to my right arm so that I can change songs/stations while holding the throttle open. I run the ear phone cord inside the sleeve UP around my shoulder and up the neck under the helmet.

you want the inner ear, earbuds. Sony sells some for 40 bucks. They are the most comfortable and you can still here the cop sirens in back of you. then go with anything ya got. Your not supposed to have headphones in, blah blah blah.

The best solution I have is waiting for the vemar (www.vemar.com) bluetooth helmets to hit the market in the U.S. You would also need a bluetooth phone, and a bluetooth adapter for your headphones (also a technology still in development). I have mounted my ipod on my tree pretty sucessfully (the vibrations wear down the battery fast). But the cord swings around and scratches the clear coat. It is just too noticable for the whole legal scene.

Some guys I know did what someone said earlier...strap an mp3 player to your arm or leg and run one earbud up your shirt and into your ear. I would never do this though. I like hearing the sound of my engine and exhaust. Besides, I don't think I'd be able to give my full concentration to my bike and that could be dangerous.

I love the music too, I got the IPOD loaded up with hip/hop, R&B, 90's, 80's pop, 80's rock, 70's and classic rock, Funk/Disco, Blues, Jazz, and even Hawaiian and Reggae. I like to hear the engine, but I can hear noises of the road (beleive me I can hear Sirens, Horns, and people yelling out thier window as I split lanes).
I kinda freak out when I listen to the bike. I hear the valves hitting and the chain rattling, the suspension and fairings creaking. Hear my poor shifting every once in a while which pisses me off. I think that there is something wrong with my bike when I hear these noises, so I have to drown them out.

Why would you want to have a radio on blasting in your ears when riding a bike???? its not like a car you need to be ten times more aware of your surroudings and if you are jamming to your favorite tune when a Fire Truck comes and you cant hear it just imagine how crazy it will be when they say you died from listening to ROCK and ROLLLLLLLLLLLL and couldnt hear the truck coming dont be dumb if the MSF wanted radios in helmets they would be

Have you tried looking into the Chatterbox systems? There is one that I am thinking about that has inputs for cell-phones, radios, mp3 players, etc.. It also is a two-way radio so you can communicate with a passenger or another bike. Not exactly sure if it would fit on a sportbike's handlebars though.

thought about listening to a radio for awhile, but when a good song comes on and you start getting into it, you can quickly forget that your on a powerful machine. Having some "heavy" music can have the effect of making you want to go faster and take more risks, how this works I'm not sure but have seen results that say it does. Besides, I prefer the sound of my engine.

i have looked into the chatterbox system. and heavy music doesnt seem to bother me when i drive around. so why would it be any diferent on a bike? as for the guy that said i could die from listening to rock and rollllllllll, why do they put radios in cars? thats what mirrors are for.

//I look at everything in terms of risk to benefit ratio. I see using radios while riding as more heavily weighted to the risk side of the equation. No thanks. You go ahead.

Bikes have mirrors too.... But music on a bike would be way too distracting, even you should know that soad. Besides the road noise, wind, engine sound and exhaust is music enough anyway..

i visited the International Motorcycle Show in DC earlier this year and saw this pretty sweet set up on a sport bike. it had a retractable 5" screen that came out of the gas tank and two 6x9's and a cd changer under the seat!!

i was thinking about putting a 7 inch touch monitor kinda around the instrument cluster and connecting it to a gps for those back country roads

i dont get where people are saying music is to distracting. how is it taking away from your ability to do things? people listen to the radio in cars and its not distracting. you use your eyes to see what is around you. if someone has to honk at you, your doing something wrong and you shouldnt be in that position. listening to music while riding around is NOT a big deal. its NOT going to take away your ability to look into your mirrors every 7-10 seconds to see whats behind you. or paralyze your neck.

Soad no offense but listening to a radio on a motorcycle vs listening to one in a car is a huge difference. For one in a car you dont have head phones plugged into your ears. And for two the amount of concentration you need on a motorcycle is far greater then in a car.
