Ok.. i had been wanting to try a burn out. I tried before but didnt give enough gas and light turned green. So today i pull up to a red light. No one around. Held my brake, gased it and yeehaw it spun. LOL ...but thats not the cool part. Yes i may be a dumbass for trying it , but i look to my right and guess who pulls up next to me...A Bike Cop on a BMW. I he looks over at me and says " you know you shouldnt be doing that here." I said " ya i know sorry " Then he said " you should do it on new asphalt cause this road will eat your eat tires and just pay MORE attention to who MIGHT be around you when you do it next time."

I was like  I've gotten a few tickets for speeding and exihibition in my 69' chevelle and those cops were cool about it too.I could have gotten worst fines. But today i was surpirsed he was really cool about it.

As a former Police Officer I can say that Officer isn't the exception. Most of the Officers I know are like that, at least until they get a person with a bad attitude. A good Officer knows we are here to serve and protect. Enforcement is simply a by-product of that protection. Just glad to see someone actually have something good to say about the police for a change. We always seem to remember the one bad experience and assume they are all that way. I can't wait to get back into Law Enforcement; currently serving overseas.

Oh, most Police Officers can see a :yoshi: a mile away, and will usually treat them as such.

Be safe and have fun. :bluethum:

i've never had a bad epxierience with cops..tho friends have. It is your attitude towards them and the situation you "WERE" caught in that effects how they treat you. I think of it this way...you break the ..and YOU KNOW IT then dont get mad when your caught.

thats cool that he was cool with ya, I had a similar experince but it was in my 95GT and I did a 720 in a gas station parking lot, a cop was just accross the street in the dark and came after me when I took off, he was cool with me and I was cool with him, I didn't even try to get out of it. He let me go with a warning and said he patroled the area a lot and better not see me beeing dumb again.

like 4 years ago i was at a intersection..in front of a jack-in-the-box. several friends were there hanging out in parking lot...so im in my 69' chevelle,in the right turn lane ,i power braked it and lit them up. I didnt take off fast or anything just burned them up.I then drove about 70 feet to driveway, pulled in and the into a parking spot. I shut off car get out shut door and start walking. THEN I NOTICE a COP right behind me. LOL. I didnt even see him with his lights on or anything. He asked me " Do you know why i am here?" I just said " Uh probably cause i was being dumb and showing off , lol ." he just laughed and said "well at least you didnt say your accelerator got stuck ,like i hear alot."

He wrote me a NO TURN SIGNAL ticket. I could have fought it in court because he was in the left turn lane across the street and i was in the right turn lane pointingaway from him. There was no way for him to ever see my right hand side blinkers, but it was only $55 whoopee and could have been worst. He cut me a break anyway so all is good

Just be honest. If you did something wrong and you know it dont be mad at them. just be cool about it and most likely you may get off.

I was carving a delicious twisty road on my Kat 600. When I came up on a gravel hauling semi truck doing 10 less than posted. It was twisty so I understand his speed. I finally got around him (had to cross double yellow on a straight) but when I crossed back over a cop appeared on the horizon. he saw me. I passed him and he motioned for me to turn around and talk to him. So I did and he asked why I did that. I told him about the gravel spilling and didn't wanna slide out. He understood and told me not to cross double yellow again. Cool cop, but since I turned around to talk to him, I got stuck behind that D$#@ truck again!!!

I was in my car once, traveling at 56 in a 30!

I swear I thought the speed limit was 55! Absolutely no reason it was 30 but anyways..........

The cop pulls me over, writes me a ticket for 56 in a 40........and tells me to plead not guilty in court.

I plead not guilty and get issued some 35 dollar-non moving violaton ticket.

I was respectful and calm when he pulled me over(I even pulled well into a parking lot so he wouldn't have to stand in the road). And he honestly hooked my 18 year old ass up by helping me out so much.

I guess 25 over you lose your license for a long time or even a (felony in NY!)

I was 18 so I prolly would have 5 years NOW Until I could get any license back!

i remember a few stories of BAD cops here in rocklin(30miles north of sacramento) small town and such. My g/f grew up there. Anyway once she got her license she was harrassed at least 1 time a week. Sometimes for 1 mph over limit and other times for just about no reason. One time the cop said her tight light was,but wouldnt let her get out of the car to look. Kept her there for like 15mins and no ticket.after he left she got out and all the lights worked just fine. ARRGG.

Another time was horrible yet SORT of understandable. She was pulled over for her license plate light being out(worthy ticket huh ). Cop walks up to the car and asks for all the info and goes to his car.Comes back 5mins later after another officer pulled up.They tell her to get out of the car and walk to their's. The 2nd cop walked back to her car and reached inside on the dashboard for alittle baggie. :O Guess what they thought it was...hmmm. 1hour later after drug sniffing dogs came and searched car they let her go. IT WAS CATNIP!! she had just bought some from a health food store(cheaper) Bag was about 1/4lb worth. I have never smoked pot so i ask...does it smell like catnip?? or did these cops have nothing better to do with their time?

I've had those good and bad experiances as well. All the times though University police are by far the best, mainly cuz they know its a bunch of stupid college kids gettin stuck in the mud or somethin like that. But the day i got my bike i picked it up and rode it around a bit before taking it home, well i rode next to a patrol car for a ways, doin the speed limit with him, then he gets behind me and pulls me over. I mean, i had no tag, no proof of insurance, no proof of ownership nothin. So he just told me shouldn't you have thought about that stuff before ridin, then i explained how i just picked it up today and he told me to take it home till i got my tag. Thankful for that one, and it was a city police too (not known for being too friendly)

i drove my bike for 5days until i got insurance. It was really puzzling to me to hear the dealer tell me suzuki does not require you have insurance to drive off with the bike. If it had been a car i would have never left the store. I'm all legal now.

In Switzerland (and most other European countries), you can't register the bike until you have proof of insurance. Any you can't drive it off the lot until you've got the license plate and registration papers.

Maybe the states can learn something from "old europe"

Inspirion, apparently you didn't know this, but many states here in the U.S. require the same thing.

Thats true Kitty I live in Maryland and the other day i went to my local Yamaha/suzuki dealer and he said he needed 2 forms of idea, and proof of insurance. I was shocked I was like " how can i have insurance before i have a bike" he responded we do all that before you leave the lot with the bike. Also when you purchase a new bike the dealer is supposed to give you hard tags right then and there, if you ever see guys riding around with paper tags on a motorcycle in washington d.c., maryland or virginia then its a stolen bike.
