This week end was horrable for riders in lousiana. It started friday when i was riding back on base and this kid that just bought a brand new SV 650 waved me down and asked me if i wanted to go riding. I said sure that i would give him a few pointers. We rode to a sonic ate there and i explained to him that he was holding on the handel bars for dear life and that he is countering his counter steering, he kept leaning the wrong way. We were headed back toward base and i took this 35 mph right hand turn and i look back and hes in the grass and the bikes in the meadian. I was like WTF. He got launched off his bike i dont know how the hell it happend at such a low speed like he almost got hi sided off it. When he came down he hit his head so hard that he dint remember me. He dint rember any thing had to get the ambulance and the cops there. I took his bike back to base i had to shift it with my hands.

Saturday it was the same group of people i always ride with. There was about 8 of us. We all met up at wendys and i told them that i dint have a good feeling i have been riding for most of the day. I told them " Hey dudes im not going to go i dont have a good feeling i think im going to crash" they all say no no no dont leave dont be a little Bi*tch" I said i would call them in a few hours that i was going to take a nap. I leave and take a nap wake up and call my freind clay. He told me that i jynx them. They left riding about 15 min after i left and they swerved out of the way to miss road kill. Gab swerved a little to far and hit gravel and lost his rear tire and hit the curb and lowsided. While he was spining on his back my buddy brain swerves to miss Gab and His 1000 gsxr unfortunalty by that time gabs head went under brians R6 and got his helmet riped off his head. Then gabs bike still sliding hits brians front tire and causes him to cart wheel end over end while he was still on it. This was all happening around 70mph.....

Brian dint have any sort of gloves on.... All of his fingers are broken all 10 of them.... he has no knuckles either. His left arm is broken and has a cuncussion.

Gab..... has a broken neck.... he is lucky to be alive.... hes even more lucky that he is not paralized. And road rash every where he dint have a jacket on.

For F*ck sake every one have all of your safty crap on. Its not Worth it. Broken bones will happen but losing your knuckles and geting road rash on more then 70% of your body you can do something about it. Wear a full face helmet if they dint have full faces they would be dead. I mess around alot i joke around alot but this crap isnt funny theres nothing worse when some one you know goes down on a bike....

Road rash over >70% of dude's body? How'd he pull that one off?

I thought I had a bad weekend:
1) wife tanking baby for the day, ride for me!!
2) passed a cop going WAY faster than the limit (i think he was asleep)
3) had not one . . . but TWO close calls
4) 1.5 hours into a 6 hour ride, the chain craps out on me, had to limp home.

I spent the rest of the day searching for a chain/sprocket set and looking for tips on making the change online.

I CURSE THE GODS OF TORQUE FOR THEIR FIRST COMMANDMENT:

THOU SHALT TORQUE THE HELL OUT OF THE COUNTERSHAFT NUT, SUCH THAT NO MERE MORTAL CAN EVER ACHIEVE ITS RELEASE!!! :banghead:

Sorry about your friend's neck. I hope he heals correctly, so he can live a normal life. Good call on not going on THAT ride!

Bummer. :-(

Superbird, you are in the Air Force, right?

You are there to defend America, right?

If that is the case, you should also be defending and representing the American language properly. Dint isn't a word. Didn't or did not. Read it ... learn it ... live by it.

The "shift" key on your keyboard has a purpose. It is used to capitalize the first word of a sentence, or a proper noun (someone's name).

Sorry to rant, but constantly misspelling words is a sign of disrespect, and makes you look like you're not playing with a full deck. Take those few extra seconds to type correctly - it won't kill you.

First off, I'm glad no one dies in this story.
Secondly, you have one hell of an intuition and are smart enough to follow it.
It's too bad about the lack of gear (or fitting gear). If they ever ride again, I bet they'll be wearing it then. I feel sorry for them, but I also feel sorry for your friends who didn't go down who had to see it happen.

Lastly, were there any hondas is that wreckage? I need a front brake rotor (j/k on that one!).

Couldn't agree more. Good God, man, are you illiterate? How the hell did you get into the Air Force if you can't even spell the name of the state you're in?

What does spelling and punctuation have to do with respect, defending the country or this topic? Thats bad when someone is trying to share a personal story and he gets made fun and is told he is disrespectfull for not using his shift key and missing a few letters. Several of his freinds could have been killed. Having something like that happen to you must really shake you up. I think its more disrespectfull to make lame comments on spelling and use of the shift key :thumbsdo:

Hey superbird. Sorry to hear about yoru fiends that really sucks. i wish everyone a quick recovery.

all spelling and punctuation errors in this message are intentional

Sorry to hear about the accidents. Regardless of the situation, whether in a car or on a bike, accidents are bad. Hope they all have a full and speedy recovery.

BTW, you guys that are worried about spelling and punctuation... get a freakin' life!

Sounds like you need some new riding buddies. I wore full-leathers yesterday. I was the only one. Some girl was asking me "aren't you hot in those?" I told her it was better than the alternative, having rocks scraped out of my skin with a wire brush and the scads of other injuries I could incur. Crashing sucks, but not wearing gear makes it all the worse.

Something more informative than thinly disguised profanity designed to override the filters would be appreciated.

And I agree, for the third time, that "dint" isn't a word.

Regarding the stories - a bunch of inexperienced riders doing dumb things. Superbird, aren't you always arguing with us about new riders and racebikes? WTF, man? Isn't this evidence enough?

At least the one guy was wearing his PPE and helmet. I know that the Air Force in unbeleivably strict on it's regs if you have an accident and aren't wearing all that stuff. It's just common sense to me.

I guess you intuitions were right in this matter. That's another lesson to be learned.

What would you all recommend for gloves? summer riding gloves that won't make your hand sweat like crazy? Sorry to hear about your friends man, I don't think you jynxed them in anyway. They should have known by the tone of your voice and understanding your feelings and maybe thought of the possiblities that something might just go wrong that day?.
