I took a slide last summer while doing 35mph on a bicycle. I was hit by a car (hit and run) and slid about 60 feet in a riding jersey and shorts. You will get the same result on a motorcycle at 35 mph in a shirt and shorts. Buy good gear, and always wear it.

Day-um! Now THAT looks painful. Did they ever catch the creep that hit you?
Never found the guy. It happened so fast I couldn't get much info to even look for him. The injuries are all from sliding, the car clipped me and sent me out of control and down to the asphalt. Other than a broken left clavicle, a concussion, damaged scalp/skull, fractured shoulder blade, slightly dislocated shoulder, and major road rash (some down to the bone), I was ok. But yes it hurts like hell once the adrenalin wears off!
It's one of those "Been there, Done that" things you don't ever want to do again.
