Road for about 10 mins today

I road my bike around the parking some in just first gear getting used to the throttle and braking. Which did help but I had to stop after about 10-15 mins because I was just to scared to ride anymore. Maybe in a little bit I can ride some more in the parking lot.

I always feel like I'm the only one that has gone through this.

Also another problem is the apartment parking lot is slanted all over a little bit so I can't really ride on a flat surface.

Harder than what? Have you ever tried to turn a cruiser?
[\QUOTE]

No problems turning my cruiser, drag the floorboards and go!

To anybody finding that they need 40 acres to turn their bike, I say just lean it further, it's OK! It's a valuable skill you learn with practice.

Practice, practice, practice. Keep at it Pug.

Have you signed up for a riding class yet?

Already took it
Just keep building your skills/confidence at a nice, comfortable pace. You'll do fine. Once you get the controls and balance down, re-read your MSF materials and head out for a nice, slow cruise on a quiet street.

Hang in there and ride/learn at your own pace, not someone else's.

Good :)
Stick to the fundamentals. With practice the confidence will come. Just keep at it, because in the end all that work will be worth it.
My favorite "practice space" is still the cemetery. Find a big cemetery and ride around in it until you feel comfortable. There's not much traffic, it's pretty peaceful, and you can imagine you're coming to 4 way stops, etc...without worry! :)
Well, your head has been innudated with advice. I'll add to that in hopes it helps. It seems maybe your psyched a little. Fear can really affect performence in just about everything, and when you are dealing with that it can really undermine any amount of practice you do. Take a day or two off and think about all the times you did something with the bike and suprised yourself in a good way. It can be anything from a really smooth start into first gear, a really good stop without wobble. It can be a turn that you made tighter and smoother than you initially expected you could do.

Then after thinking consistently about good things get back on that bike, refreshed. This meathod has helped me from snowboarding, to wrestling, racing cars, paintball, dirtbiking, and to riding my cycle on the twisties when, last time I rode, I was particularly intimidated. It's a mental game, you probably already have the skills to ride like a pro. I find alot of things like this is all about getting your mind used to doing certain things over and over so that you don't have a recoil effect when doing certain routines. Hope it helps!

And if you do happen to screw up royally, they can just put you in one of the extra holes..................j/k

Hang in there bud. I scare the crap outta myself just about every time I ride.

Wow, Claims Adjuster that rides! Must be in Property not Auto?
Gixxerdale: Yes, I am an auto adjuster. I've investigated auto (and motorcycle accidents) for over 15 years.

Believe it or not, it's not a bad job. The only problem are the fatalities. They're awful. I've gained a huge amount of respect for ministers, priests, doctors, or anyone who has to deal with grieving people.

I hope I did the quote right. I'm not sure how to do it.
Yeah, death ain't cool sometimes. I need to post a new thread of a wreck we had last shift (it involved a MC and an 18 wheeler  )
