I have an S40 that the rear brake cable broke. This is my first bike and I am unable to locate the part online. IS this a generic part or is it something that is bike specific? thanks!

Welcome.
I don't know for sure but suspect that it will be model....and maybe year.....specific.
Have you tried Bike Bandit ?

How about contacting a Suzuki dealer ? Might cost a few extra bucks but guaranteed to be the right one.

I have never heard of Bike Bandit. It looks like a great site, I'll definitely be keeping them in mind when I need anything in the future.
I don't see the part I need on there when I enter my bike info but maybe it's because it is just a generic part.
I think for this time, I will go to a Suzuki dealer to order the part.

Thanks for giving me the name of that site though.

I guess I should have mentioned the year, it's a 2007
I managed to find the part.
It's amazing, the rear drum that I broke was only 22$ but the cable and end pieces are $70.

I need parts 15,16 and 17 in that diagram you linked.
