Not to sound like an a-hole, but seriously, most questions asked here could be very simply answered if the forum subscribers BOUGHT A MANUAL FOR THEIR BIKE(S). Part of the pre-requisite of me buying a bike is to ALWAYS get the manual for it immediately.
Come on, cheap, good insurance against having to pay a shop for the answer. It also saves time and TEACHES you about YOUR bike. You will learn how to diagnose and fix your own bike. Most motorcycle repairs can be made with a MINIMUM amount of tools.
Cracks me up. We used to have these "shake and bake" mechanics fresh out of MMI come work at our shop. They come in with $10K plus in tools. I walk in with maybe $250 of tools, doing all of the same work they did, usually faster. These guys were always asking my HOW to fix the bikes THEY were working on. D'OH!
Really, get the shop or comparable manual for your bike. Learn it. Feel it. Taste it.

I still read manuals for fun. You will be surprised at how much you can learn in a short amount of time. Well worth the investment. I have pages falling out of my old GSXR manuals I have had for almost 20 years. Yes, I still use them on an almost daily basis, even though I could probably build one blindfolded.
