This has happened more than once. I am driving down a busy street. I am traveling 30mph or so with a car in front of me and behind me. Just a normal commute to work and back. I see some kid, probably 16-18 years old (old enough the have recieved his primary I.Q. skills) who shouts out, "Bring it up!" Or, "Wheelie!" All I am thinking is, "Are you Stupid? One, its too crowded here for that crap; two, I would have to speed immensely here to do that and three, theres a f***ing car directly in front of me!" Are you reterded? Are you slow? Are you, "Special?" Because if you are not you should be locked up and beaten with a hose for making such a blatently rediculous gesture. Unfortuately all I can think is that someday these kids who are so interested with seeing a wheelie will probably acquire a motorcycle someday and kill themselves while trying to wheelie into the back of a school bus.

Sorry, just needed someone to talk to about my frustration.

:D Aww my good friend Jaydog whats up buddy? Well Jay you musn't forget those times when you were a kid and saw a motorcycle and just got so excited. Im not trying to make excuses for those kids its just a motorcycle mezmorizes some and they sometimes forget about there surroudings. But then again maybe they watched some Streetfighterz stunting videos like these, when guys wheelie with cars pratically on there assess

People who don't ride don't consider the consequences of such activity. It's up to us to set an example, so the public gets off our case.

A 8-10 year old kid screaming for a wheelie is cute (I get that all the time)... a 16-18 year old teen screaming the same thing is just stupid.

hmm love them videos...expecially when they BAIL!! lol. I've had one guy yell ride it like you stole it and a few people yell "LIGHT EM UP!" or it should be LIGHT IT UP. I'll do a burn out no biggie, but anything else no way.

I've been wanting to try a burn out. When you do it, you gotta hold the front brake and take your weight off the rear. So do you ease the throttle back or twist it fast?

what i do i simple. Hold front brake and clutch...give gas to about 5K rpm and let clutch out somewhat slow.Lean forward. The front tire will usually skip across ground unless u have more power than my 600Kat. I let it skip a few times and on the up bounce i give more gas and BOOM! Time to melt the street. :) My friend is still trying to do with his 80' CB750 but its too heavy. Just keeps skipping front tire even when i do it.

Burnouts are easy with a light, higher cc bike. Obviously harder with a heavy low cc bike.

Hold your front brake very firmly. Put both feet on the ground and stand with your thighs holding the tank upright. Rev the bike up about 1/3 -1/2 of the power range (I'm not sure how high you have to rev smaller bikes to do this). Let the clutch off quickly, otherwise you will just bogg the engine and your RPMs will drop with no burnout. Not good for the bike. If done correctly you will roll no problem.

Now what was this thread about again?

You know what gets me is that wheelies seem to be the only urban measure of a riders skills. I guess we all get the lift her up from old and young alike or the "How many blocks you doin?' What I don't like is being ranked if conditions aren't right for ME to wheelie (rain, ice bumpy letter strewn street) or if I just don't feel like it. But just try to make the general public understand that. What da $$$$? I wonder do pilots get people razzing them JUMP JUMP!!!

I agree - I know I used to do the same thing when I was younger, whenever I saw a motorcycle. Hell - I call out to the kids NOW on dirt bikes (BMX) to do wheelies, when they go by in the parking lot! :p

 My son says I act like a kid.. he's only 10

I think that kids yelling "Do a wheelie" at someone on a motorcycle is just like when we used to give the "blow horn" sign to all the trucks driving by... :D
i still do the horn thing. it never gets old :D
