Anyone know what ids the difference in "big straight" and a "Stripper" pipes is?
I see that the stripper pipes have a slight stagger and they claim to have a "fixed baffle".
I wonder if that means they are quieter than Big Straights?

Anyone have some or info on them?

The 'Big Straight' pipes are 3 inches across, with removable baffles for maximum flow, and they go all the way to the back of the bike. They are designed for maximum air flow and a lot of noise, especially with the baffles out. But being able to take out or put back in the baffles in a couple minutes using only a screwdriver is a pretty cool feature if you are into that sort of thing.
The 'Stripper' pipes are 2.5 inches across, have non-removable baffles, and stop right at the rear axle. They are designed for a bit less noise, but mostly they are a budget-minded (stripped down) design, using less materials, less labor, and less chrome. Thus they cost about $440 Vs $590 for the 'Big Straights'. The 3-inch pipes will make more power if you add high-flow air filters and a stage three jet kit, but if you just want to change pipes then the 2.5-inch ones are probably a better choice.

Fuel injected

I have FI, do I still need jet kits and or high flow air breathers?
I am told that I do not.

Ah yes, FI...no jets...If you want your bike to run well and make more power, then you need to get a power commander to control your FI, and some high-flow filters. These mods will REALY wake up your bike, giving it the power and performance it should have had from the factory.
If you just want to make a lot of noise and can accept some performance loss, just add the pipes. But be warned: if you keep the stock FI controller the pipes may make the bike run lean, and bad things happen to your motor if it runs too lean. If you just want to make noise, you would be better off with a set of slip ons anyway, which will save you $$$ and not increase air flow as much so your chances of getting away with no ohter mods are greatly increased.

I have a C50 and I added a set of Hard Krome pipes. And just adding pipes will lean it out enough to where you will have to use a fuel processor of some kind. At first I didnt think it would be a problem for me. I live at almost 5000 feet elevation and my bike ran rich from the factory anyway. But after adding the pipes it leaned out enough that it would backfire and run really irratic at about 30 mph. I already had a K&N filter and a Cobra FI2000 ready to install. Instead of installing everything all at once. I put on one part at a time so I could feel any changes. After adding the pipes I actually lost power. I have a post in another section of this site. Under the Vol/C50 getaway. Let me see if I can paste the link.
