Well, my dad said he'd buy me a riding jacket for a graduation gift, I asked if he was sure because they are expensive and he said yes, just pick one out.

SOOOOOOOOOO.... monet doesn't seem to be an option here  hehe.

I've been looking for a warm weather jacket ( hopefully something with a zip out liner or something to that extent for cooler nights) but mainly like a 60-85 degree jacket. Protection, comfort and looks are what i'm lookin for.

anyone want to suggest some good ones? (remember, papa is paying so i'm going to take advantage of that)

Edit: Oops, just realized there is another thread asking about the same question. still open for suggestions though. sorry. :stupid:

I picked up a motogp jacket www.motogp.com I think it's called the 3-2-1 Mesh Jacket. It has 2 liners and the outside part naturally. For summer you take out both liners and the Jacket is like a mesh where you could see light through it. It's made out of Cordura Nylon. It has padding on the shoulders and elbows and a pad on the back. It isn't as radical as a sport bike jacket. For cooler weather you use the 1st liner which is like a vinyl sweat suit material. It blocks the wind from going through and works pretty well, I have it in now. Then when the weather gets colder you put the 2nd liner in also keeping the first liner in to. The second liner is a heavy insulated liner for the winter. I got this jacket when I picked up my bike from the dealer, it wasn't really what I wanted but when I picked up my bike I didn't bring a jacket along and this was the closest thing to a black motorcycle jacket they had. But after wearing it a few times I'm glad I got it. I got one jacket that will work for all seasons, and it has a few extra pockets to keep stuff in.

Well in temps like that you can wear any jacket IMHO, even perfed leather. If your humidity levels aren't in the upper 80% or higher then you shouldn't be sweating all that much even at in 1pm sunlight.

But the Joe Rocket Alter Ego seem like the convertable jacket of choice fof temps in the 50s to the upper 90s.

I have a Tourmaster Cortech and like it, but after getting used to my textile jacket I feel a bit vulnerably when wearing it.

Mines a First Gear and isn't too bad, comes with a liner for cooler weather. I'd probably wear it more, but At 100 degress, anything between you and moving air gets a little uncomfortable.

I have a Red M50, I purchased the First Gear Mesh Tex II jacket, great for warm weather comes in many colors, I got the Red/Black to match the bike. Cost $120.00. Voted best value jacket. Zip out liner and padding can be removed or replaced with better armor.

I dont have any personal experience with it as yet, but I ordered
the Joe Rocket Meteor because, its has a mesh shell, removable insulation,
and its supposed to have waterproof capabilities (I'll see how that works when I get it).

Throwing down my 2 cents on the Joe Rocket Meteor jacket.
I had my first ride in them earlier today.
The jacket seems well made.
The zip out themal liner seems thin to me. I guess I'll see how it does,
when it cools off later on this year.
I thought it would have been an open cell mesh outer layer, but it isn't.
But it does have various zippers to open vents.
On my ride home, I had the front ones open, but the back was closed (I didnt realize there were zippers on the back).
The jacket was balloonning during my ride, and when I got home,
I was sweating (the temp is around 83 F)
The shell claims to be waterproof, so I'll see how it does when it rains.
But so far, it seems like a good investment

I was looking for the JR Meteor jacket but nobody had one so I bought a Fieldsheer "Zero Condition" textile jacket instead. It has a mesh inner liner, zippered full thermal liner, removable CE armor in the shoulders, elbows and back, and is waterproof. I'm very pleased with it. Retail is $169 but I got it on sale for $139.

The dealership where I bought my jacket, said they are getting rid of their Fieldsheer inventory, as they get complaints about it falling apart.
So keep an eye on your new purchase...

How comfortable are the Joe Rocket Jackets in 90+ heat? From the reviews I read they seem to perform well in the cold and rain. Right now I have a heavy leather biker jacket, and I'm looking for something more comfortable for this summer. I was also looking at the fieldsheer jackets. But I read somewhere they are so thin you can hold them up to the light and see through them. The JR sounds like a no brainer with it being able to handle water. Then I wont need to carry another jacket if it rains.

Well I went out for another ride this afternoon.
Im guessing the temps in S. Florida were in the low 80s, but the humidity is a bit high. With all the vents open on the JR, I was still sweating.
Now if I was going to work or a date or something similar, it would be a problem.
When I was taking the MSF course, one of our instructors, recommended getting
something like this
to combat the sweat.
I'll give it a try.
As far as it being rain resistant. Its one of the reasons why I got this jacket, and similar JR pants, was so I dont have to carry rain gear with me.

Hmm. No problems like that yet but I've only worn it a dozen or so times. Hope that's not why it was on sale.
