It's not done, but this will give you an idea of what I am doing. Front and rear fenders are next. considering just flat-blacking out the frame cuz I just don't want to take the bike apart to oak it. It would mean not riding for a week and a LOT of disassembling and reassembling that I am not familiar with. YES, it is real oak veneer with a red oak stain and polyester coating. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

I love it!

I've been trying to think of an unusual treatment for my Subaru. You may have hit it.

How long will it take for sunlight to fade it? It there anything you might be able to do about that?

Thanks for sharing!

Now that's going to be one of a kind.

Would look into boating supply dealers for a finish that'll keep it looking new a long time.

Now just add some brass handlebars and you're all set.lol

Neat idea

Forget flames and metal flake - veneer is the way to go!

When I first read the description (before enlarging the photo) I thought you were nuts, but this looks really good. Black out the frame for sure (or maybe paint it in a brass colour?) and get a good clear coat to protect it as was suggested.

Really original idea.

most excellent!

I saw a wooden Harley once in a magazine that looked more like a barrel than a bike, but I have never seen anyone cover their stock sheetmetal with wood veneer like that before!
I agree with the other Bob- check out a wooden boat dealer or website to get a clearcoat that will last for years, and be resistant to any gas spilled while filling the tank.

You know Kawasaki patented that green color - I just don't really understand how someone can own something as general as a color?!!

But you see what I'm getting at - this wood finish is far more original than a stupid green color - so maybe you should contact a patent lawyer and get the rights for it - then in the 2nd phase try to sell it /license it to a manufacturer.
