Saw a mototrcycle advertised as having the SDR (suzuki derestrictor) removed or installed. Do any of the late year model GSX's have some sort of restrictor installed in them from the factory, that can readily be removed to increase power output?

The gixers with electronic fuel injection have a built in controller for ignition and top speed.There is only one gear with the perfect fuelling curve(think it is 5th,might be wrong.),with a timing retard eliminator(TRE)the bike always thinks it is in that particular gear so you get max power in every gear.
Is that what you mean?

So the item called a T.R.E. is what the guy advertising his bike reffered to. Is this an aftermarket part, or a Suzuki O.E.M. part? Got any part #'s because they sure dont list it in the accessories brochure.

TRE is an aftermarket part,you can get 2 versions,one is a plug in type,cheaper option you wire in yourself.

Put suzuki t r e into search engine and see what you get.

Yep the TRE takes out govenor along with what Stevie C said. I have one on my bike. You can tell that it helps you out in the lower fears, along with first gear not seeming so jumpy.

the timing retard eliminator "T.R.E" mod is simple to do by yourself. go to www.gixxer.com and go to bugmans website. there it gives you great step by step instructions on how to make one on your own and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to do it. Very easy. what the TRE is, is a timing retard when the bike is in the first two? gears. Suzuki put it in there to protect everyone from the full power of the bike at these low gears. that's also the reason there is alot of engine breaking in those gears. The TRE mod makes the engine think it's constantly in third gear (won't harm a thing) and thus eliminates the engine breaking in those gears and also gives you access to the rest of the power your missing out on. try it you'll be amazed.
