My 3 year old Suzuki is intermittently choking/hesitating when accelerating. It sounds/feels as though it is not getting fuel and then it takes off again and runs smoothly for a bit and then the problem repeats itself. I've just had it serviced and the fuel and air filter replaced but it doesn't help and the mechanic told me he had no clue what the problem was. Can anyone help on diagnosing the problem? - electrical, contaminated fuel, dirty carburettor etc? Thanks.

Thanks for the help.

The bike is hesitating at all speeds and gears and sometimes chugs like a lawnmower at low revs. The plugs have just been replaced when the bike was serviced so it's unlikely to be that.

I do think my fuel tank is contaminated. I dropped down very low on gas and the performance was awful. I filled up this morning and added a carburetor cleaner and there was an instant improvement, though still not perfect. So I'll try draining the tank.
