So long story short I lost the key for my 1999 gsxr 750 I tried installing a universal key and ignition which worked but as a security measure it shuts off the fuel pump. If I purchase a genuine used gsxr key and ignition will it work or do I need to have a key mode for the existing genuine suzuki ignition? Thanks guys

Find out from a local bike shop what locksmith in the area works on bike locks.
Having a new SET of keys made for the old lock might be your best bet......if that is possible.

Now don't you REALLY wish you had extra keys made before ??

A different key and lock will not work as the keycode is for the ecu. The ignition switch is simply a lockable electrical switch

When the keycode is stored in the ECU, then you are REALLY screwed.......because the ECU needs to be changed too as part of a "set".
Still might be worth asking the dealer AND a locksmith if there are any good alternatives though.
