So I got my first bike, a 2013 Suzuki S40, a couple months ago and was wondering how to adjust the rear shocks. Should I adjust them or get them replaced? Some articles I've read say the stock shocks are pretty crappy, and if so what's a good choice and size? I keep bottoming out when I leave/enter my driveway (which is a steep incline here in Vegas). Any pictures would be appreciated. Thank you!

How big a person are you ?
And which notch is the rear spring pre-load set on ?
Given your problem, it should be on the stiffest position probably.

What part actually scrapes ?
Does it still bottom out with you OFF of the bike and pushing it ??

Changing the shocks is not the solution to a ride height problem.
It is possible that you have a riding technique problem.

The stock shocks are not too hot. For me too stiff and bumpy ride. Got some cheap air shocks. Tad difficult to install without proper jack and the belt guard wears on the belt with new shocks so I took it off. Still have to figure out what to trim off belt guard to put it back on. Suggest hiring someone to do it for you as not as simple to do as some say. I don't think nitrogen worth it, just check em every few rides and top them to 75 psi(I weigh 185-190lbs) A hand held no wires usb charging air pump makes tires and shocks easy, well with about $45. Can set pump to desired pressure which is tricky otherwise since gas reservoir so small on gas shocks. Would not recommend getting Harley shocks for $400 they look like same height spring and doubt they improve ride much. Oh, and air shocks I tighten spring 9 threads. There is a guy in Midwest that rebuilds them to your weight spec for 100-150. Cheap air shocks about $75 pair try to get them from U. S. supplier read straight from China complete garbage.
