anyone here that rides an sv650? was just wondering about seating position and comfort for long rides as well as performance compared to the gsxr-600. I have a gsxr-600 now but I don't even use half the power it has on tap and for long rides enjoying the scenery I don't enjoy myself because of th ehunched over riding position. is the sv650 what i'm looking for?

I dunno about performance and riding position, but seeing one go by while I was walking to work this morning changed my mind about them.

In the shop parked next to SV1000's doesn't do the SV650 any justice. On the road, phwoar!!! "A bit o' alright", I was thinkin' to meseff, I was....

I reckon a bloke could do far worse.

Bye and stuff........

Can't compare myself but I do know that the SV650S has clipons and the SV650 has a regular handlebar which is about 1 inch on 1.5 inch higher than the SV650S. Should give you a little more upright position.

If you want more upright, what about the V-Strom?

v-strom would be ok but I want something to look forward to. I love my gsxr but i'm a new rider and I have yet to lay it down. dropped it only once in my garage when I crushed my nuts on the tank cause I panic braked....ouch to say the least. Wasn't even the full weight of the bike cause I was trying to hold it up but in too much pain to keep it up... anyways, I was looking at the sv650 or the savage. I want something possibly 2 people can fit on. reliability out the @ss and a decent amount of power so I can get up those really steep hills or pass annoying smelly cars. v-strom is just too expensive for me right now. but I really really like that bike. looking forward to getting one maybe in the future.

The SV has lower footpegs than the SVS, too. All in all, it's supposedly a very comfortable ride. Big difference from your race-replica Gixxer. Power will be noticably softer, but after a few rides you'll forget all about that.

yeah i've wound out the gixxer in the first three gears. front tire comes off the ground and I need to change my underwear every time. not for me... I like fast in cars not out in the open. It does feel kinda good though, but i'd rather live than feel good for a few seconds at a time.

The SVS also has different sprockets than the SV. I know that V-twin is a really nice/reliable motor. Check out Socalsvriders.org. Its all about the SV's :D
