I just had my wifes 2005 SV650S bike lowered approx 3" for her to ride it. But they did nothing with the kickstand, and the bike seems like it is ready to fall over. The dealer we bought it from did the lowering and said a shorter kickstand would be a few hundered dollars. Is there any after market kickstands that are not so high priced? If yes where would I find one? Thanks in advance for any help

Sorry, after a lenghty search I had a hard time finding stock kickstands, let alone shortened ones. Ask the guys at the shop who lowered it for you where they get theirs and if you're lucky they'll tell you. Or you could go to a different shop/stealership and find out there.

BTW: the stock ones I did find were around $200+, hope you got some green to lay down.

Would it be a bad idea to bend the stand outwards to offest the angle of the bike? I don't think it will interrupt the integrity of the stand.....do you?

Have it cut (at the base end) and weld the base plate back in position. Any good welder should be able to do it properly.

Didn't we have this discussion with Pug too???

Cut it and weld it was the best solution back then too. We only could find chrome crusier/HD aftermarket stands for sale.

What are the chances the SV and 1k use the same stand? I've got a spare you could cut, if it would work?

We just did this to my kickstand because my bike was also lowered and I was sick of worrying about my bike falling over...

My BF cut the base of the kickstand off, cut out the appropriate amount (be sure that you take care in measuring, you don't want it to lean too far over either), and his dad welded it back together.

Put it back on, and it works like a charm!

Remember, measure three times and cut one time! I wouldn't trust trying to make it longer if it's been cut to short.
