I started the process of replacing the fender bolts so that I could mount my saddlebags with Easy Brackets. I say started because one of the bolts will not go back in. I spent about twenty minutes on the other three, and another three hours on the fourth. No matter what I do, it won't go back in. Can't get the fender to line up with the bolt hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try to take the other bolts out and try that one first? Are they all the same size?

An engineer buddy suggested that I loosen all of the bolts. Worked like a charm. The fourth one went right in.

I did the same thing last weekend.
Reading this post saved my sanity.
Still took longer than it really ought to, though.
Ended up removing both front bolts and loosening the 2 rear.

If you have someone helping you ...... have them lift up on the rear fender while you're putting that last bolt in. Sometimes this helps things line up better. The secret is to remove and replace ONE BOLT AT A TIME !
