I was going to take a couple spare tubes incase I have a flat. The person I am getting my windshield from, suggested this green goop that I can't recall then name. And said it will seal up most punctures. I just want to know do I carry patch kit, load this stuff in the tires, carry extra tubes, or all three? I have only had a flat one time in my life on a bike, and then it was the front tire. I actualy put my feet down infront of the pegs, and lifted the pressure off the front tire and destroyed a pair of shoes stopping the bike. My back was sour for 2 weeks but I didn't lay it down.
Anyway, I have to make a choice before I do a long haul. I have a patch kit already. But if this stuff works like I am told then it cold save some headaches. :?

I wouldn't use it, it is probably that crap put out by bi-tron. puncture seal is a joke, if it was a really great product, I still wouldn't use it in a bike tire, it's imposable to get it perfectly even inside the tire, you mak develope a shake in the front end.

I would not use "slime". I would not carry a tube. I would not bring a spare tube. Because on the road, you would have to carry a jack, tire machine, wheel balancer, and assorted tools to facilitate the removal/assembly. Bring a cell phone to call a tow truck.

Would stay away from any supposed wheel sealer.

The spare tube and a patch kit would insure you have someway to get to civilisation should you have a flat in a remote area that doesn't have cell service. ( still many remote and not so remote areas where cell reception is bad or non-existant especially in mountainous regions ).

But the cell phone and tow truck option is probably your best bet. You can save the towing fees if you repair it yourself but it can be tricky job to do with limited tools and you'll have to get to a bike shop and change the tire anyways.

Thanks

I have decided to just hold on to my patch kit. A spare tube set would be good to keep at home, but may take up more room than I realy need to loose. I would still have the option of taking it along if I need to. And yes I have chainged a flat tire on a bike before. It is not fun, but then again being stranded is less fun. As far as a jack goes, I can inprovice just about anything I need. And yes, the cell phone is always the first choice.
Thanks for the feed back. I hope I never have to use my patch kit, but some day I may find some one who need to use it and then I am ready.
