My 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up and he has been talking about wanting a gear indicator, so i was looking at kneedraggers.com and i saw the Translogic GDU Gear Indicator and i was wondering if it was any better than something else that is cheaper like Acumen Digital Gear Indicator DG8 - Plug-In Version. Money isn't really a problem but i was just want to know if it does the same things as a cheaper one or if it is worth paying more for something better.

Thank you to anyone who can help me!

Hi Irish....that's the gear indicator I like. But it is also the most expensive. What's nice about this one is that it tells you the Gear position when you are not moving..plus doesn't require any soldering.

Nice present.

Seems like a big distraction while riding? I'd rather hear my motor, glance at a tach and watch where I'm going. Just my 2 cents.

Good point. I was looking at this just from the aspect of gadgets.

When they were first available, I thought about getting one. Then I thought, it's hard enough staying alert and alive in LA traffic without another thing to distract you. Maybe for just out cruising around it would be OK. But your tach will always be the best indicator for when to shift. With time you develope an ear for when to shift.

It's probably not a good item for a new rider to be messing with. They need to focus on the ride.

Thank you all who replied, I've changed my mind as to what to get him for our anniversary, i'm just probably going to get him the scorpion alarm, maybe for his birthday i'll just get him the cheap one since it does the same thing. Who knows by July he might change his mind as to wheather he wants a gear indicator or not...

PS: Gixxerdale I know what you mean about distractions in traffic, I live in san diego haha

PSS: layinlo, your funny
