All right all of you Triumph crazies. I am looking to acquire a 1966 Bonnie and have found one. The owner says it has a 1969 front end. One would think the question would be 'why does it have a 69 front end' but my question is... What on earth is the difference between a 66 and a 69 front end?

Front Brake

In that era there were 2 front brakes on the 650's. the double leading shoe and single leading shoe. The '69 would have the double leading shoe. My '64 Bonneville had a single leading shoe. A 1966 Triumph parts book will tell for sure which was standard. As far as the rest of the front end was the same.
I remember My '64 Bonneville had solid mounted handlebars. On the '69 model the handlebars are rubber mounted.
