Arizona is a right-to-choose state. I choose to wear mine. On our group rides it is a mix of lids and no-lids.
Since March of this year 2 acquaintences and 1 friend have had serious accidents. The first two were lidless, one died at the scene from severe head trauma.

The second one was airlifted to the hospital and survived... severe head trauma. He may or may not regain all of his faculties. Bummer to be the family member that has to change his sheets and wipe his rear end for him, but love conquers all I suppose. :?
My friend and his 10 year old daughter were run off the road by an RV... she dismounted early on during the slide and tumbled and rolled to a stop. VERY minor road rash considering they were doing about 70 or so when they went down. Knees and elbows skinned, healed right up. Her dad, my best friend, was drug down the pavement along with the bike for a measured 180 feet with his left foot pinned between the floorboard and shifter. Near the end of the slide the bike caught something and flipped to the right side with him still in the saddle and drug him farther. His road rash was much worse, a few months now and you can still see the pink skin. Ankles were both sprained but not broken... he was wearing good biker boots. They were both wearing good, full face helmets and leather gloves also. If you saw the helmets, man, they are messed up. But neither one got any damage to their face or head, and neither one suffer a broken neck and ended up in a wheelchair. Thank goodness for that.
All three bikes were BFC's (Big Fat Cruisers). Some say "I don't wanna end up a cripple from wearing a helmet so I go without. If I am gonna die I wanna just die and not be a burden." Interesting that out of the 4 people that went down hard the only one gettin' his butt wiped by someone else was a lidless rider of the "I don't wanna end up a cripple" crowd. The other lidless one died on scene and the two with helmets walked away, literally. Anyway, I wear a full-face helmet. Always have worn helmets. Even when riding with the Harley guys, a lot of whom do not wear helmets, but quite a few do. I wear it for me and my family, I do not leave it off for others and their opinions. 8)
And THAT is my opinion.
