As some of you might know, I installed a Vance & Hines exhaust system, K&N's, and took it to a local bike shop to re-jet/re-sync the carbs and tune it some.
It seems to idle smoother and cold start-up is much better too. I haven't taken it for a spin yet because it's been raining here all day. Tomorrow should be better though.

I'm also going to order a 16T front sproket for it tomorrow since they're cheap enough.

Now I just need to come up with a new paint scheme for my tank.

phew....not cheap, but if it runs better and starts easier, well worth it to run correctly. that 16t should help you out with not feeling like you need a 6th gear...and shouldnt affect (effect??) your off the line and low end power anythign noticable.

let us know how it goes.

as for paint...with a black bike you can do about anything you want....silver or any color...ghost image...pick something you like (and will like for a long time, not something temporary) and have it painted on there....

Yeah, it wasn't cheap. The other two places I checked with were almost $200 for the install, and one of these places wanted $150 to tune it.

We'll see how she runs tomorrow.

I took it out for a spin today...there is definately a noticeable gain in power with these modifications. Idle is like stock, and cold starts are significanly better. Full throttle acceleration is where I noticed the most, it seems to race through the RPM's. Overall, I am pleased with the results. The only downfall that I've experienced thus far is some poping on deceleration while in gear. But it did that before the re-jet and re-sync though.
