I recently changed my old air filter in my motorcycle. Please note I checked it when I first bought my bike however I didn’t know that there was suppose to be a Cowell on the air filter. The old one was removed and I left the new one on. I took it for a short ride and it felt like it was more responsive I think. Is it normal for guys to remove it? The pipes are mostly stock just removed the exhaust collector underneath due to excessive cracks and leaks.

Still new to the whole carb game I’m a diesel mechanic by trade. Any advise on this would be helpful thank you.

What is a Cowell ?

Yes, most all engines run best when equipped with what the factory put on them.......unless EXTENSIVE modifications are done.
Amateur tinkering with the air and fuel often makes them run worse.

Like a hood scoop attached to the filter. But going backwards. I left the new one alone and gonna see if the fuel numbers add up.
