The bike will not start, pushing start button does nothing.

Pulled starter jumped to battery and it works.
Trying to resolve why it will not turn when all connected.

Does anyone have any suggestions, debug checklist, or a wiring diagram so I can try and trace.

Thanks

check to see if you're getting power to the starter. If you are, you need to chech out the solinoid. If you're not getting power to the starter, check out the safty switches, kick stand, nutral, and clutch. Good luck

I agree with Chad- check the clutch safety switch first, as the bike is designed not to power the starter if the clutch is not pulled in. This switch can get shorted out when you wash the bike, or it can get out of whack so that the plunger does not go in all the way whne you pull in the clutch lever. Second possibility is the neutral safety switch: check this one by trying to start the bike in neutral with the clutch pulled in and the sidestand up. If the bike starts, put the sidestand down. If it stalls, the problem is with the neutral safety switch. If the bike does not start at all with the sidestand up, in neutral, with the clutch in, then you probably have a bad clutch safety switch.
The side stand safety switch stalls the bike if you put it in gear with the sidestand down, so you will know when this one is bad because the bike will start in neutral but shut off as soon as you put it in gear, because the bike thinks the sidestand is still down.

I have the shop manual for my vz800. It has some wiring diags. and troubleshooting flow charts in it. If you're still having trouble I could probably find a scanner somewhere and send you copies.
