doesnt astro turf get very slipery when wet aswell, cos they put a load of sand on it to prevent this.

They are using astroturf or an astroturf like material to rough up the concrete road surface before the concrete drys and hardens. This is to replace the grooves that concrete highways have now.

I would like to think highway comissioners plan their "upgrades" pertaining to ALL drivers. It's not like motorcyclists won't "Notice" the disregard to their safety. I choose to believe they put that statement about motorcycles in there for a reason to work more on research........

for the people that are thinking the roads are actually astroturf...read the article....

they run it across the pavement to make lines in it for water runoff and such....it just wouldnt be as smooth as asphault (not that it is either)
