Yep...after 3months and 3k miles...i dropped it. :(

I was in safeway parking lot.I came towards end of isle in front of store and at last second saw 2 spaces, but i stopped to quickly and turned too much and down she went. It was a slowm-mo drop. I caught it half way but couldnt get'er up. So i gently set her down on ther right side, hit kill switch. Got off and turned my back to her grabbed throttle grip and brake and heaved her once and up she goes.

I didnt wanna look at the paint until i got home lol. there is only 1 small chip about 1/16'' wide so aint no biggie. The other marks only went surface deep.I can buff those out. Could have been worst and only 1 person saw me do it too....of course he stood there watching. :D

P.S. i may add that she went down on hot ashpalt.

It happened to me many times, my friends say it's my way to park my bike! :p
I think it depends on a drop of attention after having ridden with full concentration and then you're about to stop, feel safe and forget even the simpliest rules. We all know we shouldn't brake hard while steering at low speed, but then ...in our mind we already parked the bike! :D
It happened to me in Mugello (a track), after 10 quite fast laps I was entering the pit and I noticed I was missing the gate to the paddock so I did just like you, but maybe I was a bit faster so I didn't only drop the bike, I fell off as well. The Marshall coudn't believe a track rider could do something so stupid...I think he's still laughing! :D

I haven't dropped a bike by myself, but I almost dropped one at the dealer recently. I was trying on some riding pants, and I wanted to have a sit on a sportbike. Of course, the only bike not so tightly packed into the showroom that I couldn't stand it up was a brand new GSXR1. I rolled it forward and swung my leg up. The abrupt seat ledge caught my foot, and I started to come over backwards. The only thing that saved me was the lightness of the bike. Any other bike in the room and I'd have dropped it.

Very unfortunate, badkitty! Sad to hear about incident. Sounds like you've recovered & that's good.

Yeah, it happens to everyone...it sure is embarassing though!!

Last time I "tipped over" was because I was on an uneven piece of pavement and didn't know it. Sat on the bike, kicked the kickstand up, went to stand it up and my right foot kept going...along w/ the bike and me!!

Glad you and the bike are okay!!

My wife did that same exact thing on her dad's 80' CB 750 custom. Went to park it and her right foot kepting going.Funny how a 2 inch difference in elevation causes that.

Shhh...don't tell anyone. Not a soul, you hear? I dropped mine in front of my own house. I was trying on new Alpinestar boots when my bike was caught at the bottom of drive way. I have one of those curvy driveways rather than straight. Kinda like this... ~

I was trying to push my front tire out from the bottom but I had very little leverage with new boots (they were cutting into my calves as I was trying to push bike forward). Sure enough, I managed to just push it hard enough where the bike stopped with my feet not able to touch the ground. Gravity took it's toll and down to the left it went (ouch...it still hurts even today). Of course, the wifey was watching her idiot husband the whole time and BAM, I drop it in front of the love of my life. Needless to say, my embarassment prevented me from being able to get it up for the next couple of days...and I'm not talking about the bike either.

Remember...shhhh.

I mistakenly parked my bike on a downhill, not a big one, and stepped away for like 3 sec. I heard a scraping and the kick stand was folding and i got to it as it started to tip over. I grabbed it and the frame slider(this is ironic), smoked my knee. It hard bad but i saved the bike from falling over. Needless to say I'll be more aware of a downhill.

I did once backing and turning around down a steep hill. The bike wans't damaged, but when I picked it up, I was standing on the right side of it. I couldn't get on it! Its so weird throwing your left leg over.

I had to walk to level ground, lean over the seat and pop down the stand with my hand. Then I walked around and hopped back on. I had a witness and she laughed while I swore.

I dropped my '01 Kat 750 leaving the parking lot of Burger King in a heavy traffic area. I was approaching the road as I was nearing the end of the parking lot and I was slowing down and didn't want to have to stop and put my foot down, so after I saw the on-coming car pass, I just kept going and then glanced back and saw a car barreling down the road. I slammed on the brake and since my handle bars were already turned to the right, down the bike went. Two guys in a van behind me saw it happen and helped me pick it up. No major damange, just a minor chip at the bottom of the fairing. It made a big dent in my ego though. The drop caused the bike to flood somehow, so I had to push it to the side and wait about 15 minutes before it would start again. Now that was embarrasing.

Dropped mine:

1) At the dealership (pick-up . . . <1 mile);
2) At an intersection near home (learning to ride); and
3) At the corner infront of my house (learning to ride).

I stashed it in the garage until the MSF class (a couple of weeks), never had a problem again (knock on wood).

Don't sweat it . . . it happens. Could have been worse . . . at a traffic light, with plenty of attentive spectators!!

My wife dropped mine and had to have some guy pick it up for her. Then she ran out of gas and called me cause she couldn't push it home. She doesn't ride it anymore, not because I don't want her to but because she doesn't want to. Go figure
