On my '81 GS450, there are small black discs that are squeezed in between the cylinder fins. They're not between every fin, only a few of them. There's 10 or 12 on each side. I think they're rubber. What are they? Are they vibration dampers?

I belive you are correct about vibration dampners
Sounds like vibration dampners to me...l'd suggest leaving them be...
Currently dealing with previous owners mistaken removal of vibration dampners, ever try to fabricate rubber?
