To KTM: Way to go, idiots!!! Encourage the customer to kill him/herself. No return business that way. Too bad a cop doesn't step out and shoot the SOB in the friggin' head at the end.

They make a commercial showing violence and wreckless attitude to promote their new bike. At least now I have a better understanding of why all riders are looked upon as vehicular criminals.

soad's gonna' love that thing.

Funny! I was thinking the same thing when I was watching it! I love ya too Soad, but for sure you're going to freak on it!

I liked how the whole thing was black and white except the bike...cool photography. I just was trying to imagine being in one of those cars and having a bike whip around me like that. It'd make me freak out a bit.

As cool as the KTM SuperDuke may be, and as cool as the video may be, I don't think it's responsible for a motorcycle company to promote that kind of riding on the streets:

Edit: Fixed typo
Is this video/commercial any different then any other car or car product commercial on TV today?? Wost then the movie Ronin or The Fast and The Furious or even the Cannonball Run??

How are you gonna sell something by showing how to operate it safely?? Hell no!! Excitement sells product. Fast and glitzy commercial of cars ripping thru the twisty back country roads or empty city streets.

As long as they put that "professional driver on close course" tag line in the ad they are covered from liability. But I hardly think driving recklessly is something new to anyone over the age of 2.

First, it ain't on a closed course. And as you say yourself, "empty city streets".

Second, to me, a movie is completely different than a commercial. A movie is a movie, it's just a story.

However, a commercial, or commercial type video like above, is directly linked to the brand. It's an endorsement of riding stupidly in traffic.

Now, as a video, I think it's great. However, I also see the commercial aspect of it and the fact that KTM endorse and even worst encourages that kind of behavior on the streets. :thumbsdo:

But, Geez, isn't that KTM sweet :D

the vid was pretty cool. its a new marketing campaign. everybody else is doing track stuff. if i wanted to see fast riding and wheelys, i would watch ghost rider and not have such a shakey camera.

The video was tasteless though, technically, had no faults. I might have even enjoyed it or at least the music. Does the bike manufacturer have the responsibility to show their bike off to the world in a responsible way? Not really. But I personally would respect them more if they did. I think if you replaced all those cars with bike models from competing brands and turned the road into a racetrack with squirrels bunnys and young cats* running out of the way the advertisement would be equally as effective while promoting responsible riding. Because I think if one choses to ride fast on a racetrack, then they are being responsible.

* Just kidding about the little animals though that would be a little funny and I'd buy the bike** just for that.

** No I wouldn't.

Finally, a documentary depicting the obvious link between squidding and homoerotic violence.

I don't know where to begin to start with that. Be careful about legal advice.

Lastly, that's a damn ugly bike.

I think it is exactly the way to sell a bike.

I mean think about it. If you saw a commercial where the rider was riding 5 under the limit, BARELY leaned, and country musci was playing, would you want to get hype over that?

maybe for a crusier......but not for a sportbike.

It's just marketing, like the way the show cars revving high, and the sounds of it hitting the rev limiter. It's gonna sell bikes, that fact can't be argued. it's a sweet bike, but i don't like the way the front fairing is so far forward, makes the bike seem small. But you can defenitly see the dirt bike in it, can't ya? 8)

they show it on the streets cause not many people will take thier bike to a track. think about it, what percentage of people actually take thier bikes to a track?
