I have a unique situation. I have a 2002 gixxer 750 in black and yellow with 4039 miles on it and the only mods are a fender eliminator and flush mount signals front and rear. This bike is in perfect condition. A friend wants a 2000 or newer 750 and isn't picky on the color. I know of a 750 in blue and white with 4600 miles with a Yosh trioval can, mini carbon signals front and rear, LP stands, and a $500 Arai helmet all for $6500 o.b.o. I gave my friend this information and he seemed aprehensive. Foolishly, I put mine up for sale for $6000. I'm thinking if I can get the blue and white one for $6000 and the origional parts and the goodies, then I'm coming out ahead. BTW I only have $6200 in mine. The other bike is immaculate, he just has to part with it due to a new baby. What would some of you do?

I'd get a second job, to help support the baby budget, and keep my bike!

No way would I go throught the hassle of buying and selling for a few hundred bucks. No way would I wear a used helmet.

checked it out today

Checked out that guys bike today. He treats it as good as his Mitsu Lancer Evo. The darn thing is spoiled like a little child! Not a scratch, no leaks, no scuffs, no rock chips, fresh fluids, fresh plugs, recent brake pad check. I also checked out a 2005 750 today. Suzuki is offering a 0 down $99 a month for 60 months on the 05 750's. I could take the $6K from my bike and throw it down on the $9600 for a 2005. I'm just torn with indecision. I don't want to go into hock on a new bike in the event that I may want to turn my 02 into a track bike, but it sure would be nice to have one with a warranty! I just don't know, since track time will be well spent next season, it may be beneficial for me to get the 2002 and go from there. At least then I own it outright. Besides, track days void the warranty of a new bike.

Sounds to me like you've got buyer's fever...

Why do you want to trade in a 3-year old bike with only 4K miles on it? Just having a warranty isn't really worth the extra cash that you're going to shell out for the new bike. How many times did you actually use the warranty on the bike you have?

If you want the new bike, get it :) You'll just make yourself crazy trying to convince yourself that it makes good monetary sense when it really doesn't.
