I really don't have one (I'm still new). I have ridden up to the Texas-Oklahoma state line, and it's been fun. I'm at the northern end of the Dallas-Fort Worth "metroplex". There's nothing north of my house except farms, ranches, & country roads. The scenery doesn't compare with Connecticut (where I'm originally from), but it's pretty nice.

Someday I'll go on a real ride.

One spring, I left LA and took all twisty back roads north to Canada. Then continued on up to Alaska, toured there for weeks. Great ride so far, but then on the way south out of Alaska, I woke up and went to work today!

You had me going there for a minute.

Two rides I want to make: California & New England (home). Maybe someday.

Pretty cool. I doubt other states have a site like that.

It's still a few years away. Need to wait until my kids are a little bigger and I need to get riding experience.

Jay, I'll pick you up on my way across Texas to LA this spring or summer ;) WARNING: I have a tendancy to take a less than direct route home, such as through Seattle.

Best cruise? Last year I left Atlanta and went to Paducah KY for the Intruder owners club rally. From there I just sort of wandered, hitting Chicago, heading across Pennsylvania to New York, up around Vermont and New Hampshire, back down the East coast...hit 19 states in all. I had no set schedule, so I'd just ride where ever I felt like, and stop whenever I felt like it...just me and my debit card. Great ride!

Other memorable rides include an 1,146 mile, one day cruise that involved a run from North Georgia to New Orleans and back (yes, there was a bet involved); a week playing in the mountains of North Carolina; a weekend cruise from Atlanta to Mexico and back; and a certain trip to South Carolina involving a certain Hooters girl named Meagan ;)

The running gag with my Southern Cruisers chapter is that if you are going to ride with Dr.Bob, you don't ask what time you will be home, you ask what DAY you will be home. And if I say "Tuesday", you need to ask "Tuesday? WHICH Tuesday?"

Jay, I'd suggest you head out one Friday, ride over to Paris then up towards Haileyville over to Mena Arkansas then just cruise through the Ozarks. Stay off the four lanes, eat at the local cafes where the waitresses call you "hon", don't get in a hurry, just take a few days and enjoy the ride. Near Mena is the headquarters of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. You can camp there if you are so inclined but they can also steer you to the best riding in the area. The temperatures are best in the spring and fall but the colors are the best in the fall.

I cant wait for my first longer weekend trip (Daytona) then something up into the mountains.

Other good rides. Magdalena, New Mexico to Quemato then up to Grants. Also, Ruidoso, New Mexico down to the Tularosa Basin, up to Cloudcroft, over to Sunspot back through Mayhill back towards Cloudcroft over the Mescalero into Ruidoso.

DrBob: thanks, but I'm not quite ready for a trip like that. I need to pay off some debt and get more riding experience.

That ride to New Orleans & back sounds like "Smokey and the Bandit". I trust you won the bet?

I'm familiar with that area. In the 1980's, Arkansas was part of my territory at work. I also took my wife (now ex-wife) and kids on a vacation to nearby southeastern Oklahoma in 2002.

Lots of hills & trees up there and it's only a few hours away. It's beautiful in October.

If you make LA, I'll do some miles with ya. That is if we can do some of the less travelled back roads?

Around here when I go ride, I get"What state are you going to today, or are you staying local in California somewhere? Will you be home in time for dinner?" My wife has a lot of patience! My day rides are just a little long on occasion, like every ride!

Too cool! I love little-travelled back roads, and have worn many a footpeg off my Intruders riding with sport bikes...

It was more of a dare than a bet...but my friends and I certainly earned bragging rights by doing almost 1200 miles 20 hours. Also got our Iron Butt patches to prove it!
Currently my riding club is having a winter mileage contest, to see who turns the most miles in the cold months Dec 1 - March 1. Winner gets the right to call everyone else in the club a sissy for not riding in the cold. So far I am on a pace for a little over 9000 miles this winter...might turn into my first 50,000 mile year.

Man, turn some miles and save you pennies, and in spring 2006 I'll pick you up on the way to the Intruder Owner's Club Raly at the Grand Canyon.
