:eek:crap: Well today it happened, I fell but not on my own bike no no sir on my friends. Allow me to paint the picture, its roughly around 8:45pm on a nice cool night perfect for riding me and my girl are chillen in my room watching a movie when i hear a motorcycle exhaust. I quickyl get up and dart down stairs its my friend on his CBR 600RR really really pretty all chromed out and such. He ask me to I want to saddle up so i say HELL YEAH, adrenaline took over as my mom, sis, brother, sis husband, dad and friend wacthed. Pressure built up as i eased out the clutch and reved the throttle. I stayed in first as i went about a block down the street and begin to turn around. Looking through the first turn i performed it flawlessly and began to go back up the street approaching my family i should have just stopped, However i tryed to turn back around, Now i didnt have as much room to turn but I didnt know this I only been riding for about a month. So i attempt to turn and SPLAT, i go down i cant really say what i did wrong. I thought i had enough throttle, i thought i looked through the turn, should i have walked her around at that slow speed? damn just dont know but it was hurtful and very painful. Not painful in the sense of i was hurt just painful to my ego. What did i do wrong? damn :( i just feel really bad because i went down in front of everyone, whewww if you guys have any advice or encouragement please give it up cause i need it. This is the worse day of my life.I mean it wasnt the wieght of the bike considering my GS500F is heavier then his, I just dont know what i did wrong. Well back to David Houghs Profiecient Motorcycling. :D

Remember when we all said that you'd go down sooner or later?? I'm not going to rub it in, got more respect for you than that. However, if you're ever in doubt about something, slow down and think about it. If you think you're going too fast for a corner, ease up on the throttle. Riding will become instinctual, but over time. I assume you've already played out the past scenario several times in your head. What do you think? The answer you're looking for is probably the first one you came up with. Given we don't know how wide the street was, your position on it, or how fast you were going, I don't think we'd be much help. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back in the saddle. Don't let this one mishap get you down. We've all gone down at one time or another. Learn from your mistake and you'll know how to be better prepared next time you go up. Good luck in the future.

Chris THANK YOU, you are so right. Now that I have replayed that horrid event over and over in my head the last thing i remember before I went down was me looking at the curb for a fraction of a second(no exageration) and saying to myself " I dont want to hit that curb, let me look through my turn" then SPLATT I went down faster then a 2 dollar shaghai hooker. :D Thanks Chris for the booster upper.

My friend would sometimes pick on me because I put my feet down when I make slow speed u-turns and such. Just remember, have your feet down for these type of turns because you will look really silly tipping over moving at 5 mph. I'd rather have my feet down to save my ego as well as the paint on my bike.

Advice: Practice in a parking lot with youe figure 8's a little more. Granted you already have but this is key to making those low speed u-turns. This can also save you from looking silly pulling outta a parking spot while a little kid waves at you because he likes your bike. You wouldn't wanna tip over in front of him would ya? :D

So how much damage did you do to your friend's bike? Was he pretty upset?

Sorry you wiped out dude. Sooner or later we all pay our dues to the gods of asphalt and concrete. Look on the bright side - you only wiped out at 5 mph. What if it was 50mph or more?

When you do slow turns, don't put your feet down 'cause you have better balance with your feet on the bike. But be mentally ready to put them down if the bike starts falling over.

Experienced riders actually ride the slow turns by standing up on the bike. Standing up, instead of sitting, allows you to shift your balance point faster and easier than it would be sitting in the saddle. Countersteering becomes much easier this way. Actually this whole story is covered in David Hough's motorcycle books (I don't remember which volume now. But I remember there are pictures of countersteering while standing up).

Cheer up Novaz! :D

Edit: ever wonder why dirt bikers almost always ride standing up in the saddle? 'cause they have better balance than sitting down.

where's NOVAZ at? The best advice I ever got, well not the best, but I was told to never let anyone ride your bike! My cousin wants to ride it BAD. I didn't know it, but he's been lusting after my bike for a year, then I went and got one and BAM, he's pissed and wants to ride.

He's laid two bikes down, both not his. So I had to tell him sorry cuz, it aint happenin. Chear up Novaz, things could have been so much worse! Not to hijack, but last night I bought lost it doing an emergency stop from 70 to 35. Locked the back brake up and my ass end started hoppin. I maintained control and quickly learned that the front brake truly is my friend.

We all have the learn things in out own way, I haven't laid it down, yet, but I'm sure that will provide yet another wakeup call. You want to see a real wreck?

Download this and the first 10 sec are worth the effort. I guarantee it. Oh and he was not to suppose to ride again, but he is back in the saddle.

God Bless Suzuki for Frame Sliders, when i say the bike didnt obtain no damage, i really mean that bike was in the same shape as it was before i whored it. Im glad i didnt put my foot down considering all I had on was jeans a leather jacket and ankle tennis shoes. My anky probaly would've snapped if all that wieght came down on my ankle. I also read that particular part of David Houghs proficient motorcycling regarding standing up during a U-TURN by shifting your wieght to the outside peg, only problem is with this technique im afraid i might bleep the throttle :D Yes Yes i know im a noobie and must pay my due thanks for all the support guys, tomorrows another big day for practicing :D

Bummer, dude. Thanks for posting as a reminder to other new riders just how different one bike is from another. Assuming you can ride any bike after such a short time isn't a good idea. It takes quite a while just to learn your bike well.

Also, this type of trash (http://www.uponone.co...) is so disgusting that I can't even watch it any more. The sheer idiocy of the public stunters makes me want to puke. They give us all a bad name and make riding that much less free. I recommend to all of you to simply avoid that whole website.

gotta disagree on that one for one simple reason. They aren't making any money from me. I'm simply watching what someone has done. I'm not giving them an incentive b/c they aren't making money off of me.

Also the local stunt group here just had an interview with the St Louis Post Dispatch. It was published Sat. and it stated that they have over a million dollar in sales. They have a lawyer on retainer and between the four of em, they have had 88 tickets. Most for simple speeding. Yes they still have a license. In Missouri we can get out tickets "fixed."
