Graphic Image, Mods feel free to remove post!

I was unsure I should post this, but it's a good reason to wear a fullface helmet, or even wear a helmet. Also to take the MSF and NOT start on a Gixxer.

Squid states- Day 2 of riding, 35 to 45 mph, hit gravel, no helmet!

Well, at least he'll have a nice reminder NOT to be stupid everytime he looks in a mirror. From his own comments he appears to have decided to wear a helmet in future rides...he learns from his errors.

I may be taking a view that some will be upset about, but here goes..

He had the bike for two days, and I'm willing to bet that he has NO CLUE how to ride a bike in the first place. He claims that he took off his helmet "like 5 minutes before the accident at a gas station." Another wise Darwinian move.

Motorcycles accidents are just like airplane accidents. Too little experience and too much stupidity.

I hope that I'm not the only one with a lack of compassion towards someone wo screws themselves up on the road mainly because they weren't riding responsibly and had no protective gear on.

I agree 100%. The thing that angers me is the rest of us, especially sportbike riders are deemed by John Q. Public as a bunch of reckless, irresponsible motorcycle riders. Then add to the fact that his med and bike insurance claims will now add to the increasing cost of ours.

I really hate to say it, but I think this country needs to take a look at the Europeans and get some mandatory training laws before any motorcycle license is issued.

Guess I'm just tired of paying more each year because of "riders" like this kid. Sorry, I'm off of the soap box now,NEXT!

I don't have anything against Streetbikes or those that ride them. Riding is riding, you have to use your head for something other than breaking your fall when you hit the pavement.

I noticed that he had ordered parts for the bike too. Too bad you can't order common sense off eBay as well.

Compassion, wheres the compassion?

Compassion? No compassion here!

I guess that I have mellowed, now that I am a grandfather. Some people have to learn lessons the hard way. I do believe that there should be mandatory safety training before a license is granted, but there was a report recently that a great percentage of biker accidents (crashes) were by unlicensed folk. Does that excuse him? Not at all, but he might not be in such a minority. I'm sure that most of us can look back and say "how could I have been so stupid?" over one thing or another.

That said, Great Trophy!

Guess there is some truth to the saying,
First you must be young and stupid in order to be old and wise.

But I don't know about the survival rate being that stupid. Race bikes, no experience and no gear= 3 strikes your out program?

Training can't cure attitude. Plenty of people who have gone through car training still speed, drive recklessly, and break traffic laws.

Hopefully this fellow's experience will cause him to have a change of attitude towards riding his bike. It is still amazing to me that given what is reported on the news and in forums like this that riders still have that " it can't happen to me", indestructible attitude that impacts how they approach and use their bikes.

I'm not saying you can't enjoy the ride, but it's risky enough without being stupid.

Add a bad attitude and you're an accident waiting to happen.

I'm quite surprised how many members of the Gixxer forum got on him about the helmet. I expected it to be like cycleforums.com, where squidliness is the rule, not the exception.
