I bought a brand new 2012 Stryker yesterday.

The manual suggests to change the belt every 2500 miles. That would cost with labour approx. $800 every two years for me.

Who often do you change the belt?

Thanks

Ummm...no. That would mean replacing the drive belt more often than changing the oil. Someone at Yamaha has some serious "Japanese to English" translation issues.

You are supposed to CHECK the belt every 2500 miles, not CHANGE the belt every 2500 miles. As in "look at it and see if it is out of adjustment or damaged." The adjustment will be done every time the rear wheel comes off, like for tires, brakes, and other service, or when your inspection shows that the belt it too loose. Keep it in proper adjustment (there is a little guage in the tool kit to check it), and the belt will last well over 60,000 miles.

Thank you Dr. Bob, I miss understood the statement in the manual, and you are right only check and change if needed.
