First of all I have to mention that this is not my own experience, but I thought it just had to be posted here.

My wife took a class with a guy that had a Bandit (600 like mine). He had a lady on a celll phone take a left as he was taking a left from a perpendicular road. She ran him smooth over. Let that sink in.

In the melee that unsued under her little SUV, his helmet came off. His face and scalp were abraded against the pavement for a few feet. He was a solid, oozing mess on the entire left side of his face, including where his hair should have been.

He will never be the same.

I don't know. I tried to get as much info as I could without having the wife appear to be stalking the poor kid.

I know this: I put my @#$%ing helmet on and strap that booger up TIGHT!!

<i'm too pretty for a(nother) scar on my face> :)
Well, like thay say"It's not what's on the outside that matters". A helmet won't fix that! Just kidding! Damn I'm bad today. I think I need to go to work now!

Oh men where's the ripped up facial pics with the nose and skin gone and lower jaw hanging on by a few tendons and blood vessels???

I'm quite dissapointed.

In Motorcycle News a while ago a paramadic, who is also a biker, wrote in to say that in all his years of experience of accidents involving bikers he never see's flip up helmets do as well as full face fixed helmets.
He said even the approved ones have a tendency to pop open at the time of impact...!
He said he had seen the results of this 3 or 4 times.

I think I will stick with full face.

SG1's got $$$!!!!

If I had the $$$, I'd get an Arai over a Shoei any day.

Since I ain't got no dough, I'm springing for a new Scorpion. After trying them on in Daytona, the fit and finish is equal to that of the higher priced models. A few riders I know have them and say that they prefer them over their Shoei's. They really like the anti-fog feature.

How's the noise reduction inside the Scorpion? Do the pads inside hold up and retain shape, or loosen excessively after a few months?

The cheapest Shoei/Arai is the common selection for a lot of racers. Your helmet can be toast real quick.

Christ, during my bad crash last year, I was actually wearing one of my "backup" helmets. Never been worn before on the track. Nice, pretty graphics etc. Well, that helmet got toasted. Cheapest Solid RF series is what I usually get. That'll teach me to buy a nicer one :p
