Why racers place wrist bands around the front brake reservoar/I don't know the vernacular/. I've been wondering for quite a long time, so finally I decided to ask. :!:

+1 on meatman, but I am only guessing, seems logical though.
Same as if you use a road bike on a track you have to tape up the lights so you don't spread glass if they break.
