:sry: I know this is a subject on the same level as discussing what happens after you die. However I just saw a special TRUE LIFE on MTV called I ride which basically followed 3 stunt teams around as they got geared up to compete in a stunt championship. I just wanted to ask you guys do you think stunting will eventually become legit?

Woah, nice pic.

I think it already is legit. The problem is all the squids screwing around outside the sporting arena. I was at a recent AMA race and they had a club performing, legitimately. Now, if you're asking whether it'll show up in the 2008 olympics - nope.

wow, shes got some spring in her step 8) could probably but that to good use :D

haha, but anyways, yea i saw the same show. last half or so anyways. I'm confused how he lost his finger though. he said reaching for the bike, but was that after he fell, or falling? cuz why would you go for a running bike in that area after you fell off???

i agree its somewhat legit now, but not mainstream, even the moto x in the xgames is just getting nation stuff. who knows how long some guy in a field was doin tricks.

Alright i remember this from my MSF course they said if you ever lose control of the bike and fall from it the first thing you better do is not try to pick up the bike before you hit the engine kill switch, Do you remember the trick where he would grab the throttle and back seat while spinning the bike in a circle on its side? well thats the trick he was attempting but his hand slipped and went into the wheel cutting his finger clean off. :crippled: I think its a fair assesment to say he wont be competing in this years finger painting completition hehe  Remember when it comes to stunting i like to use this saying "Silly squid stunts are for professionals" not saying thats sound advice but i just kinda thought of it.

p.s. Oh that stunter is no other then Jolleen Farmer a.k.a JO JO from vega extreme, she recently had a interview with a very prestigious magazine if you want to read it heres the link, the article is short it also has a pick of her hmm shes a cutie.

all it needs is time and people to show up...corporate america can be sold anything. the person who starts dominating with the right manager to generate cash will start the sport up.

its like drifting that is fairly new here. eventually enough people start ponying the cash and more people get involved which ups the competition and the quality and newness of tricks.

nice pics. i do think stunting will become a sport. not as big as American football or soccer, but like hacky sack. only a few people play, yet everyone wants to try. you just gotta get a filter to filter out the non serious tryers.

I think it is a sport already and it will grow in popularity. However, there is the economic factor keeping many people out of it. Most sport equipment is within reach of the main population, but buying a sport bike, gear and insurance is definitely not something most kids can afford.

I hope it doesn't become a main stream sport. Insurance rates will sky rocket. The number of idiots wrecking on streets trying these stunts will probably triple. There's enough stupidity out there already. Please help keep my insurance rates down by not being stupid. :)

great point! I didn't think of that. Lets keep the rates down. I know I want that! Although it takes some nerves to actually try half of what they do. There is a popular group around here that is amazing.

I saw that special last night, too. It is a sport...so is chess, cheerleading, blowing bubbles (<--- Mark will get that one) etc. It's how you view it. Lets hope everyone who wants to stunt will find private back areas like they did in the special and wear gear like they did.

No they dont. There is a local group here that rides and they stunt without all that unless they are competing. I know some people close to them and they are pretty fearless. They are pretty extreme.

Check out this trailer for their latest video. The beginning is well worth the download!
