I've been looking into a windshield for my Marauder 800. I'm 6'6" tall, and am concerned about finding one that's tall enough. Anybody else as tall as me have a shield on their Mauader? What size? What brand?

FWIW, I'm 6'2" and I'm having the standard Suzuki windshield installed tomorrow on my '04 Intruder VS 800. Even though I'm a little shorter than you are, I can give you my impressions of the Suzuki windshield tomorrow night. I'll give you the size of the windshield in inches and tell you how much wind it blocks. Maybe that will help.

Check the internet. One manufacturer had three sizes (17", 19", and 21"?). I would guess about 10 companies make windshields for the Marauder. Finding a company probably won't be a problem. The problem may be finding out which one has the best quality. I'm sure some more experienced people here can help with that.

Thanks for the input. I actually had the stock Suzuki windshield put on the bike when I bought it. It is only 15 inches tall. After a couple of days of riding to work (25 miles each way on the 4-lane) I took it off. It was horrible! All the wind was directed squarely at my head. It felt like I was in a sparring match, and at the end of the rides I had a headache.

I did find one windshield on the National Cycle website that's 23-1/2 inches tall. They're the ones who actually make the Suzuki shield so the quality should be comparable. The're more expensive than Memphis Shades, that's for sure.

Off topic, but I noticed you're a Husky. My youngest son graduated from UConn about 5 years ago. He's a cell and molecular biologist, whatever the heck that is LOL.

MD - I have heard nothing good about National Cycle Windshields. All second hand info from the guys at MIG cruisers, so heads up.
I bought and mounted a National Cycle windshield on my last bike. The quality was good, the installation fairly easy, and it worked fine for me. I didn't have it for a long time so can't speak to longevity.

What were the complaints from the MIG cruiser guys?

Yes, I'd certainly like to know what the complaints are. As I said, National Cycle is a lot more expensive than Memphis Shades.

That's great to hear! I graduated from UConn in '84. I go back there about once every two or three years. It's amazing how much the campus has changed. And they have Division 1-A football now!

I just got my Suzuki windshield this morning. It blocks the wind from my body extremely well, but my head vibrates a little at speeds above 50 mph (which is slightly annoying). After riding for two hours, I was getting used to it.

I'm 6'3" and have a OEM windshield up about halfway. I kind of slouch when riding. Glad I didn't get the tall Memphis Fats.
You only have it up halfway and it's okay? My Suzuki windshield is up as high as it can go, and my helmet gets hit with a lot of wind. I'm an inch shorter than you. I don't get it.

Any ideas?
