As the riding season dwindles, I'm looking to the winter months as an opportunity to breathe new life into a good friend, namely my '95 RM 125.
My 9 year old son, and I, are looking to start racing motocross in the Spring, as we have a very active local Amature Motocross Association in Western New York (WNYMA.com). My boy needs a new bike, and because I can't afford a new one for the two of us, I'd like to spend the winter rebuilding mine.
I need any ,and all , advice available as to what components are tried and true in terms of compatibility, longevity, performance, and value {Pistons, Heads, pipes, reeds, clutches, and whatever else I need to consider}.
While the bike is stripped I also thought of painting the frame-or even having it powder-coated for a more durable finish. Has anyone out there had this done, and if so is it worth the extra expense? If not, is there a paint to use that may be of a more durable nature?
I'd appreciate any assistance available, especially from those who have undertaken a similar project of thier own. If I could avoid some pitfalls, before I begin, I'd feel that much closer to my goal of rolling up to my first gate-drop come April!!!
THANKS!!!!,
