hi I have a 1983 gs450L(a) and i am stuck swapping my old rectifier. I was expecting to be able to match wire to wire and re-tap them, but the new rectifier is a different version(2015). The main wire I am confused on is the B/W that connects from my old rec(goes to igniter box&further up), not sure where to splice that to since the new rec is left with just the ground wire. Appreciate any help or tips! - Roger

Rectifier wires:
Old=New
R=R
R/W=Y
B/W=Y
Y=Y
B/W=?
Ground=B

This probably won't ever work right.
Too many things have changed in 32 years.

When that bike was new, the rectifier and the regulator probably were two different parts.
The new one you got probably has both pieces in ONE part.

I strongly suggest that you stop what you are doing and look for a replacement that WILL "plug and play".

P.S. Are you sure that the existing rectifier is bad ?
