I went to an empty parking lot praticing all out emergency stops. Made several stops at different speeds listening and feeling for the front tire. I was pleased how fast the bike could stop without locking. From here, I rode maybe a 1/2 mile to the college back roads. Coming around a first turn, a woman driver pulls out in front of me. She pulls out and hits the brakes, lets go and hits the brakes again and stops mid way out. I braked like SOB and saw her through the passanger window, umm like 3 feet away I'd say. Boy she looked so scared and frightened at this point it took several waves at her to turn before she realized what was going on. The drivers passing by were looking at us like we had collided.

Well this is where I tell you how good I' am with my brakes, but we'll skip that and just be glad that I had praticed just a few mintues before this crap.

One final note, this would usually piss me off, but it didn't. I was just glad how the rear tire gripped so well and barely skidded the last 10 feet or so.

cool beans dude. I practice my hard braking regularly. Pretty much got it down to stopping in like 60ft or so from 50mph. I've had to use it a few times but not in the close call you had.

Just make sure you keep up with practicing like that. When you don't and start getting complacent that's when you need that knowledge the most.
