Bar-End Weights

So I layed my bike down in a slow speed oil-slicked crash. My bar end bolt was bent so I ordered one off of ebay. But the female end where the bar end bolt is supposed to screw into is loose and jiggling around inside the handlebar. Ids that normal? If so how to I get the weight screwed in? If not, what do I need to do to fix it?

you can fish out the loose part with a coat hanger or a magnet on a stick.

maybe a dumb questino, but what do I do with it once it is out? Is it supposed to be loose? How does it hold the weight in if its loose?

The assembly is loose until you start to tighten it together. Then the bolt, washer and nut sandwich the rubber and it squeezes against the inside of the handlebar holding the bar end weight in place.
