I remember reading that someone was following one of the DJ Mod test bikes on an unmodified and he said he had trouble keeping up with the modified riders bike. He was into 4th while the lead bike was in 3rd.
I've found it to be a beneficial change. (did it myself in 3 hours) It would be like swapping out the sprockets on a chain drive to enhance it.
As far as feathering the throttle, it is not an extreme change and not like leaving in 2nd with stock.
Also this allows me to have a bike I would trade up to but my wife wouldn't let me.

Cheers to all, Boston

To put the acceleration into perspective...I used to get left behind by my bro. on his VTX1300 when accelerating from a stop, but now amazingly he has to shift first into second before I do and he slowly starts to pull then in third he says good-bye but not as bad as before where I would beat him off the line but as soon as I shifted into second he would come screaming past me and I couldn't slow his pull. Oh and by the way this last drag race I was riding two-up and he was solo...

He told me after I modded mine that he has a hard time catching me now if I get a head start on him riding solo, and eventually he does but I'm usually all out of steam at over 90mph.

Somehow stretching the gears out and having a high redline doesn't seem to slow the bike down much...JMHO...

Dan returned my e-mail Monday, I'm finally num. 1 on the list. Dan said as soon as the next shipment comes in he'll be contacting me. Been on the list since end of January, I am so ready for this mod..

Knuk you are going to love it. Has the price went up? I paid 455 shipping and all for a non polished unit. Polished it myself and it came out pretty good.

No. He said since I was already on the list I woulldn't be charged the price increase (that was forced on him by his supplier). So I should proably pay about the same as you. Yours look good with polishing, I'm getting anxious.

Finally received my invoice from Dan,so I should be getting my Mod kit by middle of May. Dan said the oil seals are on back order from suzuki until middle of may, then he will ship everything to me total cost of $455 for factory finish. I'm not positive but I would think this mod would void any factory warranty, drastic change to motorcycle. :D:D:D

I was #57 on his list when I started this post in January. By the time I get the mod it'll be about 15 weeks. His supplier decided to stop shipping to him and raise the price, so I'm glad I ordered when I did. Thankfully it was during cold weather so I couldn't ride much.

Breeze, did you install it yourself or have a shop do it ? How many hours labor would be involved approximately ?
I did it myself w/a friends help and it took about 2 hrs. And so sorry for the late reply :eek:oops:

Pic's of M50 with DJ Drive Mod?

I am ready and excited to buy one of these Drive Kits, and am curious what the unpainted rear end looks like on the black M50.

Does any one have any M50 pic's to post, or if there have been pic's posted already, can someone give me a link?

Thanks,
Oldie

Sent my e-mail to Dan yesterday, and the reply was waiting for me this morning. As of today I am #79 on the list.

He said it would be 7-8 weeks so I should have it by the 1st week in May, at which point I should still have a couple of of months to ride, here in Syracuse, before winter strikes again.

I am already looking at my bike differently, as this should take care of the two main issues that I have with it. Bucking in first gear, and winding out too much on the highway.

Can't wait now.................

:eek:oops: That was supposed to be the 1st week in July. I got so excited about getting on the list that I forgot how a calendar works, and now that I look closer, I should have almost 3 months of riding left.

Oh and stop hitting me on the head. It hurts!!!!

I'll post once I get it installed and express the feeling of riding my NEW C50. Sorry to be so short but after waiting for 3 and 1/2 months, it'll be on as soon as I get it. I hope..:bluethum:

Sorry it took me so long to post about my install of the DJ mod. I did the install in about 3 and 1/2 hours by myself, just followed the instructions sent by Dan. For me the hardest part was lifting the rear wheel back onto the gear. Riding the C50 with the DJ mod is awesome, I don't shift into 5th gear till doing 55 mph. I can cruise around town in 3rd gear at 35 mph turning 2500 rpm. 1st gear is smooth up to 25 mph. It takes longer to wind the motor out between shifts and you pick up speed quicker than you do with the stock gear. At 60 mph I'm turning around 3000 rpm, which is really smooth on the hwy. I have a tach on my C50 and I do most of my shifting between 3000 and 3500 rpm's. With the DJ mod the C50 is much more rider friendly and rides like a larger motorcycle. The DJ mod and the mustang seats are the best mods I've done to my C50 and well worth the money, I like my C50 more now than I did when it was new.:bluethum:
